Offer Your Website in English, Step by Step

What it's for

Tourists, international customers, global companies: many visitors would rather read in English. The English version of your site option makes your website available in English too, at the same address, without building a second site.

What you get

• All your text translated automatically into English.
• The English version at the same address, under /en.
• An FR / EN switcher (flags) on your website; visitors whose browser is set to English see the English version right away.

Step by step

• Open your website, then the Advanced options tile.
• Under "Site content", expand the English version of your site card and click Enable.
• It's live: it takes about a minute.

Like every advanced option, it can be turned on as soon as your website is live (active subscription, free trial included).

Customize the English version (optional)

In the same card, you can replace some elements for English. Leave a field empty to reuse the one from your French site.

• The display name in English.
• A logo for the English version.
• Up to 5 photos for the English version. A checkbox lets you use them for the French version as well.
• The description and the button text, written by you in English: they replace the automatic translation.

Click Save to confirm.

Our tips

• Proofread the English version by opening your website and clicking the English flag.
• If your description uses wordplay or local expressions, write the English text yourself.
• Mention "English spoken" in your French description if you welcome English-speaking customers.

Do I need to build a second website?

No, it is the same website, at the same address, with a language switcher.

Can I turn English off?

Yes, with the Turn off this option button. Your website goes back to French only.
